Love Litzell
Chief Channel Officer Management
What made you apply for the trainee role at Telenor Sweden?
I always had an interest in participating in a trainee program after I graduated. The opportunity of following a leader in the top management team was something that really intrigued me and this was exactly what Telenor’s trainee program provided. This allows you to get a really interesting top perspective of the company and is something that few other trainee programs in Sweden can offer. Also working in the telco industry is very exciting with the digital transformation that is currently taking place and the high pace of change.
Please give me a brief summary of the role you have – what is it about?
I’m currently employed as the Chief Channel Officer Management Trainee. This role includes working with the heads of all Telenor’s physical sales channels, including Stores, External Retail and Customer Service. Additional to the sales channels, I also work with Business Development, in charge of developing new and innovative ways for Telenor to improve their business, and Operations, who keeps the physical sales channels running smoothly. When I’m not involved in the managerial responsibilities of the various channels, I pick my own projects based on my own interests. This allows the trainee position to vary a lot from person to person, it’s all based on what you’re interested in and what you want to make out of it!
What’s best with being a trainee at Telenor?
Being the trainee to a CXO of a large company comes with many privileges. Being the right hand of your leader allows you to be involved in many important projects and especially learning about their reasoning behind big decisions. This is knowledge hard to gain elsewhere and extremely useful for the future of your own career.
What are your biggest challenges so far as a trainee?
I believe that the biggest challenge has been entering the company with somewhat limited work experience and then interacting with some of the most experienced and competent leaders in the industry. There’s a very steep learning curve but this is also part of why you learn so much during this year!
What career opportunities, short term and long term, can you see that the trainee program can give you?
The program really is the ultimate kick start to your career. Understanding how a company is structured from a top management perspective is, like I mentioned previously, extremely valuable. This in addition to the very large network that you manage to build during this year results in a great start to a promising future regardless of what path you choose. The majority of previous trainees are still within the company with senior positions, some as high up as the top management team so the sky really is the limit!
What would you say to someone considering applying for trainee next year?
If you’re a person interested in kick starting your career, have a passion for challenging yourself and working with great people, apply!
